Creating a More Inclusive Community, Together

At All Together Therapy, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to participate, belong and experience the simple joys of childhood.

While much of our work happens alongside children and families in homes, schools and our clinic, we are equally passionate about helping create a community where everyone can access and enjoy the places and experiences that many people take for granted.

Over the years, we have been fortunate to work alongside local organisations, families, community groups and council to advocate for greater accessibility and inclusion throughout the Hastings region.

The Magic of the Liberty Swing

One of the projects closest to our hearts has been the installation of the Liberty Swing at Town Beach.

Working alongside the incredible team at Port Macquarie Sunrise Rotary, we helped advocate for, secure funding and bring this much-needed community asset to life.

For many children and adults who use wheelchairs, a swing is not something that is easily accessible. Yet for so many people, swinging is a treasured childhood experience that provides joy, freedom, movement and connection.

At the opening of the Liberty Swing, we witnessed something truly special. One of our clients, a 21-year-old young man, experienced a swing for the very first time in his life.

Watching the smile spread across his face and seeing the pure joy experienced by him and his family was a powerful reminder of why inclusion matters.

Sometimes the things that seem small to others can mean absolutely everything to someone else.

That moment was pure magic.

Livvi's Place – Play for Everyone

Our team was also fortunate to contribute to the design and development of the inclusive playground, Livvi's Place, at Westport Park.

This playground was thoughtfully designed to create opportunities for children of all abilities to play together, explore, connect and have fun.

One of our favourite parts of the project was seeing some of our own wonderful little people featured within the playground artwork, captured as mermaids and mermen aboard the pirate ship.

It was a beautiful way to celebrate inclusion and recognise that every child deserves to see themselves represented within their community.

Supporting Accessible Facilities

Accessibility extends beyond playgrounds and recreation spaces.

We were proud to work alongside Port Macquarie-Hastings Council and community members to advocate for the installation of the Changing Place facility on Short Street in Port Macquarie.

For individuals with high physical support needs and their families, access to appropriate toileting and changing facilities can be the difference between participating in community life and staying home.

Facilities such as Changing Places help remove barriers and allow more people to enjoy the places, events and experiences that make our community special.

There Is Still More Work to Do

While we are incredibly proud of these achievements, we recognise that many areas of Port Macquarie and the greater Hastings region continue to face challenges relating to accessibility and inclusion.

Creating an inclusive community is an ongoing journey, not a destination.

It requires collaboration, listening, advocacy and a willingness to continue improving the spaces, services and opportunities available to all members of our community.

Working Together for Change

We are grateful to the families, community organisations, local businesses, council representatives and volunteers who have partnered with us over the years to make these projects possible.

Meaningful change happens when communities come together with a shared vision of inclusion and belonging.

If you know of a local project, initiative or opportunity that could help improve accessibility, participation or inclusion within our community, we would love to hear from you.

Together, we can continue creating a Hastings region where everyone has the opportunity to participate, connect and thrive.
